Want to volunteer to help make ConFuzzled what it is? You can!
Yes that’s right, ConFuzzled needs YOU! We couldn’t make ConFuzzled what it is without the help of a dedicated team of people working behind the scenes to bring the convention together and make the magic happen!
ConFuzzled is constantly expanding, and as such we are looking for hard working volunteers to fill our vacant crew positions. This is in the teams that help make ConFuzzled a friendly and enjoyable convention for attendees and staff. Working for the convention is fun, enjoyable work and doesn’t need to be time intensive, even if you can only offer a few hours a week or can only offer us assistance at the convention itself, we may have a spot for you.
Please provide as much information as you can on this application form so that we can make an informed decision regarding your application to work with ConFuzzled. Once your application has been submitted, it will be reviewed by our team and we’ll get back to you with feedback as soon as possible. Please note that due to the volume of applications received and the time it takes to review each one, this may take a number of weeks before you hear from us.

Do you like counting things? Do you enjoy reading numbers, writing numbers and sorting stuff? Do you dream of browsing art all day and night? Then a Crew position in the Artshow is for you!
The Artshow currently has a number of Crew vacancies to be filled; the team are dedicated people who enjoy helping artists to show off their work at the ConFuzzled Artshow and Auction.
- Helping out with Artshow Setup and Tear-down (lifting the heavy things)
- Assist artists during the Art Submission event (make them all sign little pieces of paper)
- Manning the Artshow room on a Rota basis during the con (check bags and make sure no one steals the shinies)
- Do inventory of the Silent Auction (record ALL THE BIDS)
- Help during the Live Auction as a Runner (entice people to spend more money than they should on wonderful art!)
- Assist during Payout and Pickup after the auction (enjoy the happy faces on people when they get the artwork they bought)
Convention Operations (ConOps)
Convention Operations (ConOps) supports all events and operations during the convention by providing a number of key services: communications (radio, telephone, Twitter), situational awareness and incident management, customer facing services and problem solving. ConOps is the first point of call for attendees and has a central role in coordinating activities.
- Help with the set up and tear down of the Convention Operations Office
- Spending time on the Con-Ops front desk on a rota basis
- Man the Radio Desk on a rota basis
- Support the duty Con-Ops manager in other ad-hoc tasks
The Dealers’ Den is a big part of ConFuzzled and one of the busiest departments during the convention. If you would like the chance to work as part of a dynamic crew who love combining fun and hard work and getting the chance to assist and help the many dealers’ who come to CFz every year then the Dealer’s Den may be the department for you.
- Help with the set up and tear down of the Dealers’ Den
- Help with registering Dealers’ as they arrive
- Man the Convention Merchandise Table and Tills during the con on a Rota basis
- Other ad-hoc duties at the request of the Head of Department and Deputy
Event’s Department Crew
Do you like it when a plan comes together? Do you enjoy bringing people together? Do you want to bring exciting new events to ConFuzzled, and do you have the enthusiasm to help make them a reality?
If so, then why not have a look at the Events Department! We are responsible for scheduling all the events you see (and perhaps a couple you don’t see) in the con book. We are active both before and during the convention.
Duties before the convention include:
- Liaise with panellists
- Brainstorm new event ideas
- Discuss how events requirements can be fulfilled
At the convention, duties include:
- Room Setup and teardown, before and after the con.
- Panel event setup & teardown at the con
- Looking after ongoing events (boardgames, artists alley)
- Planning, and running some specific events that the convention desires
We can timetable work around your time at the convention, and you are not required to do all the above; however we find it’s more interesting if you get involved in a number of areas. Be aware we ideally need to cover both early mornings before the first event and late evenings until the last event closes.
We’re after people who love fursuiting or fursuiters and are willing to join the ConFuzzled crew as part of the fursuit relations team.
Duties involve (but are not limited to) dishing out fursuit badges at registration, setting up and tearing down the fursuit lounge, looking after fursuiters in the lounge, tidying the lounge and replenishing drinks and snacks.
You may be required to check the fursuit lounge on a frequent and regular basis, including late at night. Your involvement may also be necessary during key fursuit events such as the parade.
It’s that time of year where ConFuzzled gets back into motion, and we set about finding more volunteers to help us set up and run the convention!
As a part of the Strike Force, not only do you get a cool “Crew” badge and work with the team with the most awesome sounding name, you get to play a *very* important part in the convention! Strike Force’s primary responsibility is the delivery, shifting and transportation of convention equipment. We bring everything from the stores to the hotel before the con, and we pack it all away again afterwards.
But it is much more than just unloading vans, the team is an integral part of the convention, without them we have no con. They are the lynch pin that gets us going and tidies away at the end and make sure that our colleagues in every other department have the resources they need to put on events, host shows and run the convention.
This job requires people who can be responsible, dedicated and committed to get the job done. It is also a very rewarding job that doesn’t have to interfere with your enjoyment of the convention. Once everything is in and set up, that’s it for you until the closing ceremony! You get to enjoy the convention that you’ve just made possible. Go mingle with friends, buy artwork, fursuit, do whatever it is you want to do – Just remember that you go back to work once it’s all over!

Have you always wondered how they do it backstage at ConFuzzled? The Technical Services department is looking for crew to help out!
The Technical Services department provides lighting, sound and AV support to all of the convention’s many events and event spaces all over the hotel. A large part of what we do is based in the main stage and the nightclub, but we also supply smaller spaces across the hotel, setting up small speaker and AV systems. We are currently looking for enthusiastic crew members to assist with the set up and tear down of equipment, and operation of lighting and sound systems.
- Setup and tear down of the main stage and associated areas
- Assistance with the smooth running of technical aspect of events across several spaces
- Other small jobs as necessary
Experience is not necessary although it is desirable! Enthusiasm and a good work ethic is essential, as well as basic understanding of electrical systems. In order to assist with setup and tear down, you must have early arrival and departure.
Video Tech / Camera Operator
The video team are looking for someone with experience in the video production industry to help them film and livestream the convention. The roles and duties of a video department crew member start at the beginning of the con with the help of setting up the A/V within the stage room and ends with the tear down at the end of the con. When not assisting with setting up and running the equipment at events, crew are encouraged to take a camera and film in other public areas at the convention.
- Assisting with setting up/tearing down the video production equipment in the stage
- Operating a camera at events + around the con
- Receiving and reviewing footage captured and copying them to storage
- Managing cameras and prepping equipment for each event
- Assisting other stage crew
The video team run on a schedule that follows the main events but they are flexible and we try to accommodate all requests to suit everyone. In order to assist with setup and tear-down, you must have early arrival and departure. We would also love to see your portfolio or examples of your work.
